CRICKET: Hawkes and Banbury denied by storm
9:20am Monday 30th August 2010

Seamer Nathan Hawkes had bowled Banbury into a winning position, before a heavy storm ended their chances of beating Division 1 relegation candidates Potters Bar in the Serious Cricket Home Counties Premier league on Saturday.
Following a delayed start, which reduced the match to an 98-overs affair, Banbury inserted the visitors, who lost two early wickets.
But it was the introduction of Hawkes that did the damage as he took 5-38 to send Potters Bar crashing to 120 all out.
The only resistance came from David Breeze with 41 off 59 balls.
But before Banbury could start their pursuit for victory, a heavy and prolonged shower flooded the ground, and the match was called off at 4.30pm.
This was Banbury’s fourth abandonment of the season.
